Strange Bedfellows

by deadheaduk @ Friday, 30. Jun, 2006 - 22:40:32

I found myself in a strange situation today where I was suddenly cheering for the Germans in their clash against the Argies. It was a cracking game and I'm glad the Germans won - even if it was on penalties! I had to listen to them on Radio 5 which was a bugger.

England v Germany in the final?

Soundtrack to today:

Jah Wobble & The English Roots Band - Belladrum Festival 2005
The Orb - brixton 1992

(plus Desert Island discs (Physicist Sir Peter Mansfield) and of course the footie

I wouldn't lose too much sleep just yet - first we got to beat Portugal and then Brazil!!!!

Oh...I thought it was just Portugal tomorrow - is there much chance of us beating Brazil?

Oh good grief...I said 'us'...and as I've been reminded, Scotland's never anywhere near the cup!

Germany v. Brazil. As usual. Actually, if the French turn it on like they did against Spain they could be in with a shout. And Portugal can be quite tidy when they've a mind to. Mate of mine thinks England have been paid off by a Malaysian gambling syndicate and will suddenly start playing brilliantly tomorrow. Me, I marvel at the optimism and fortitude of some people...

An England-Germany final would be insanely entertaining. I hope that happens, even though I'm Scottish. ;-)

Looks like the cup headed somewhat that way, unless the Italians decide otherwise and strips the pants off the germans whom they have beaten consistently.
Italy England final would be great but for paeans that would be sung by english commentators for the next twenty five years on that greatest goal ever scored by "young
roouiny in that semifinal against brazil in germany in 2006" probably off the boot of a defender centimeters away from a gaping goal.

Further there is a defenite bias against southamericas ,who are scared to play an open game
with the referees plotting their defeat. Argentina is a casuality of blatant partisan umpiring and I cry for the stupid fools.
